Over the past ten-years, ProMotion Orthotics has been donating ankle foot orthosis, clubfoot shoes, braces and supports to Christian Blind Mission. This has been one of the ways that we’ve decided to give back to those who are struggling with poverty and disabilities.

For those of you who don’t know, Christian Blind Mission is an organization of doctors, healthcare professionals, community workers and partners that work together to provide the tools and resources to children and families in low-income countries – 90% of whom are in Africa. CBM is presently in 59 low-income countries and currently helps nearly 38 million people every year.

ProMotion Orthotics specifically donates to CBM’s Gift and Kind initiative. This initiative involves shipping items to children with disabilities who are living in poverty. By doing so, communities can take the money that they would have to spend on items like clubfoot shoes and AFOs, and use it for other items like food and shelter, or even items for their hospitals.

Now I’m sure you’re wondering how these items get to these children and their families. These items are shipped to CBM partners overseas in 40-foot containers. This is the most cost-efficient way to send these items so that funds are not wasted. On average, CBM ships one container every three-weeks and the containers take two-months to arrive at its destination. Prior to sending the items, everything is brought to one of two Ontario warehouses where they are tested and cleaned. This ensures that only the highest quality products are shipped.

Just to put things into perspective and so you can truly understand the impact – in 2016 alone, CBM shipped 11 million dollars worth of items to low-income countries. And like we said, this impacts nearly 38 million people’s lives.

Here at ProMotion Orthotics, we donate very high-value items approximately three-times per year. We have been doing so for ten-years and have every intention of continuing to donate.

Having said that, if you’d like to help us in our efforts to give back, please feel free to drop off any of your AFOs, clubfoot shoes, braces, etc, that you’re either no longer using or have outgrown. We will ensure they get to someone who truly needs them. Every little bit helps!
